If you want to learn more about the first town in the first state, Lewes Historical Society is the place to visit! The Lewes Historical Society includes year-long programs including exhibitions, a Museum Speaker Series, workshops, children’s activities, and the popular Tavern Talks. Lewes Historical Society continues to offer educational and entertaining programs that explore the history of Lewes, the surrounding area, Lewes’s unique interaction in the national scene, and other related and appealing topics. All of these presentations are open to Society members, residents, and visitors of the Lewes community. The Tavern Talks offers participants the opportunity to partake in historical conversations, based on a given time in the history of Delaware’s First Town. This popular show is sponsored by the Lewes Historical Society and takes place in one of their atmospheric, historic buildings, often by candlelight. The Lewes Historical Society events include the Mid Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival on June 5th, Summer Craft Fair on July 10th, Outdoor Antiques Show on September 5th, and more!
